AI Training for UK-Based Nonprofit
Yorkshire MESMAC | May 2025 – June 2025
The AI training delivered by Billy Kennedy III to Yorkshire MESMAC on June 19th, 2025, was developed to assist the organization in exploring responsible and mission-aligned uses of artificial intelligence tools within their operations. The session was designed with a foundational commitment to enhancement, not replacement, acknowledging existing concerns (especially among creative staff) regarding the risks of AI-generated content. The training explicitly excluded the use of generative AI for creating images, videos, and audio, and reinforced that AI outputs should never be published as-is.Throughout the session, care was taken to foreground ethical considerations around data privacy, consent, and representation. This ethical framing was tied to Yorkshire MESMAC’s mission: ensuring inclusive, affirming, and accurate communication in the context of LGBTQ+ mental and sexual health. AI’s potential to contribute to these goals was explored through real-world examples, practical demonstrations, and interactive discussions.
“Billy collaborated with MESMAC to assess our current position and identify our needs regarding AI. Most importantly, they took the time to truly understand what matters to us as a charity. This foundational work provided Billy with the insights needed to deliver a compelling and highly practical session for the team. By the end, staff were energised—excited about the transformative potential of AI to enhance our work and better support the communities we serve.”
